If I Were ~ A relaxing bedtime Song by Bryant Oden

If I Were (an older version was called The Whistle Song) is a relaxing bedtime song or lullaby, or just a soothing “mellowing out” anytime song for kids.  I didn’t really plan it to be that way, but once we added the flute, it took on a pretty, soothing quality I really liked.  The song is on the New CD Songdrops 2: Bedtime Songs.   Here’s the Youtube video of the song.

Much thanks to Danae Shanti for the background vocals and  Rick D. Lewis, of CrankItUp studios,  for the lovely flute.

Here are the lyrics and chords to If I Were (formally The Whistle Song).

If I Were: Words and guitar tabs

C             G           F                     C
If I were a tree I’d be pleased with me

F               C             F                 G
Living and giving so others could be

C               G         F                  C
If I were a deer, I’d feel pride sincere

F                    C                  F          G   C
Knowing that no one’s as graceful as me

If I were a bear I’d love a good scare
You better not touch I don’t mind if you stare
If I were a fish I’d laugh at the wish
Of people to breathe without air

If I were a whale with a splash of me tale
I’d make a wave that would make pirates pale
If I were a frog I’d sit high on a log
And sing all the tadpoles some mighty tall tales
