The Harp Song (A Fun, Silly Children’s Song)

The Harp Song is a fun, silly song for younger kids.  Here is the Youtube video of it.

Song by Bryant Oden

One day I was joking with a harpist that we should do a duet, me with my kazoo and her on her harp, backing me up. I thought the contrast between such a beautiful, elegant instrument, revered for centuries (the kazoo) and a silly old harp, was funny.

The idea stuck with me the rest of the day, and be the end of the night this song came to me. Bob Wiz (radiantrhythms.com) did the keyboards on this, and the didjeridoo. I think he also did the masterful kazoo solos as well 😉

The Harp Song is probably children’s music that’s more for younger kids- from toddlers through preschool, kindergarten, and maybe first and second grade. Although be careful. Some older kids have told me they can’t get this song out of their head and that they secretly like it

Lyrics to The Harp Song, by Bryant Oden:

If I could play the harp
I’d play it just like this
And you would feel it in your heart
Just like an angel’s kiss (What bliss)
If I could play the harp
I’d sing this song for you
That’s the kind of thing if I could play the harp I’d do

If I could play the harp
I’d play it everywhere
Except for maybe on my bike
There’s not much room on there
(I swear-No fair)

If I could play the harp
I’d play it with my best kazoo
That’s the kind of thing if I could play the harp I’d do

If I could play the harp
I’d play it with my didgeridoo
That’s the kind of thing if I could play the harp I’d do
That’s the kind of thing if I could play the harp I’d do
