Song From A Mountain Top

This song came to me when I reached the top of one of my favorite mountains.  I had been looking down to choose my steps over loose rocks, and then when I made it to the top, I looked up saw amazing, awe-inspiring views every direction I looked. And I was filled with the living beauty all around me, and the preciousness of life.  Tears started to come, and I heard myself whisper “There are no words”.  This song started coming to me, and by the time I had hiked back down the mountain, it was finished.

Special thanks to Jim Oliver, for the beautiful accompaniments, and to Gay Freebern, who took this picture of me at another of my favorite spots.

(A final note: It looks like I was standing at the edge of the cliff, but there was actually a pretty large rock platform just in front and below me.  The real cliff started a little farther away.  Of course, it’s not smart to be close to a ledge, so please don’t try it yourself.)
